Where & How To Report A Scam
In the United States scams are classified in the same category as fraud and both the Federal & State Governments take that VERY seriously. So what do you do if you suspect or are a victim of a scam or fraud?
4 Places To Report A Scam
1. Visit www.usa.gov/stop-scams-frauds Immediately.
Official Site of the US. Federal Government
This site is the official site of the US. Federal Government, DO NOT visit any other site that ‘claims’ to be the ‘official site of the US government’.
This site has a .gov in it and only ‘officially recognized government entities’ can have this classification under International Agreements.
Site Page Lists Off Common Scams/Frauds
This site page lists off 26 of the most common scams out there right now. So chances are what happened to you is known to the government. However, they may not be updated on who is doing it. So do the right thing and report your scam.
Provides Contact Information To Report Your Scam/Fraud
After the Government lists off 26 of the most common scams, they then list contact information for the federal agencies’ you would want to contact concerning your scam or fraud that has happened to you.
They provide direct links to the agencies’, so you can go right to the source to report it.

Access Your State’s Consumer Protection office.

As stated above in #1 this is part of the Official site of the US. Federal Government. It has a .gov and only government entities can have that classification.
This page however is for the individual state or territory you may live in.
Just scroll To Pick Your State/Territory & Click ‘Go’
Just scroll down until you find the state or territory you reside in. Then click ‘Go’ and you will be taken to a page listing off the offices that are available in that state.

FTC Handles Most Scams In US
The Federal Trade Commission oversees a large majority of scam reporting activities unless the scam is specific to certain government agencies’ such as The Social Security Administration or IRS for example.
Government Wants You To Report Online Scammers & Online Scams
The government wants you to report these scams to them, so report it and let them handle it. Scammers like to brag that they are ‘one step ahead’ of everyone. Well by reporting these ‘scammers’ the government is ‘one step closer’ t nailing them.

Once there you just simply choose the category of scam/fraud and tell them what happened ‘in your own words’.

Administered By The FBI
The Internet Crime Complaint Center is administered by the FBI and they take each complaint seriously. The FBI is not to be taken lightly.
They make take some time processing complaints, but if there are enough of them they will act and act fast.
You Can’t Out Run The Long Arm Of The Government
This is the beauty of the US. Federal Government. It is so massive, so big, so old that scammers may think they have it made by doing a scam overseas.
That is until one night around 3 am flash bangs go off and you are black hooded and wake up the next day on American soil.
